You have probably seen an electric motor and you should have seen
something solar powered. You also may have seen something
that levitates. But have you seen something that is
motorised, levitates and is solar powered?
Well this is.
A custom electric motor armature is built with a solar panel on
top of each motor coil. The 4 coils and solar panels are superbly balanced
and the whole armature is then suspended/levitated with
magnets so it is as friction free as possible.
Bright sunshine or a bright light, give it a twist and its off.
Getting faster and faster until the panels are a blur.
As each solar panel faces the light source it creates electricity
which is fed to a coil below. This becomes electromagnetic
and is attracted to the large magnet below the armature.
As it pulls the armature round a new panel begins to face the
light source and the whole cycle is repeated.
Note:
It should be pointed out that this is not a mass production
product and although it is functional, well made and very unique
some parts lack mass production finishing
(e.g. magnets are glued and the glue is visible).
Sizes: 8.5 inches long, 3 inch deep, and about 3.75 inches tall.
